Homelessness means not having a home. Even if you have a roof over your head you can still be homeless. This is because you may not have any rights to stay where you live or your home might be unsuitable for you.
You could become homeless for many different reasons. These could include:

- fleeing violence or harassment
- health problems
- affordability due to loss of employment
- relationship problems
- a disaster such as a fire or a flood
The housing options adviser will go through an options interview with you to assess your situation and may:
- stop you from losing your current accommodation
- help you to access all benefits and maximise your income
- assist you to secure alternative suitable accommodation through a number of schemes including:
- homes
- the bond scheme
- private sector leasing
- safe haven
- liaise with your landlord to resolve any housing issues like rent arrears or repayment plans
- refer you to supported housing schemes or coordinate floating support
- signpost other specialist agencies for employment, training and health advice
- provide private and confidential interviews and monitor your enquiry to achieve a long term resolution that meets your needs
