Incommunities annual star awards aim to celebrate how individuals and groups are brightening up their neighbourhood in different ways.

This could be from being junior plant grower to being a caring neighbour.

Posters, postcards, Facebook, Twitter, nomination forms and the Incommunities website (click here) are all being used to attract a bumper crop of nominations.

There are seven award categories :

1. individual garden/display – recognising a ‘green fingered’ star who uses their outdoor space creatively, from back gardens to patio displays

2. communal garden - celebrating a local group’s gardening efforts outside their sheltered scheme or block of flats, from brightening up borders to creating fabulous floral displays

3. ‘kidz korner’  - a special competition for the under 16s to celebrate the work of our younger customers – from growing their own veg, plant flowering displays or get involved in garden makeovers or clean-ups

4. rising star – recognising a young tenant (aged under 21) who has successfully overcome a personal barrier or who has made a difference or their community

5. community star – recognising a special tenant who has helped to make their community a better place. This could also include those who run local community centres

6. star neighbour – honouring an individual who has gone above and beyond to help a neighbour or neighbours

7. star team or employee – celebrating an Incommunities team or staff member who has made a positive difference to other peoples’ lives

The closing date for entries is Friday, 19^th July 2013.

The winners will be announced at the Incommunities star awards 2013 on Monday, 9th September, at the Midland Hotel in Bradford.

Guests will be treated to a masterclass from top floral designer Jonathan Moseley. Jonathan’s fantastic floristry regularly thrills audiences across the country and in 2012 he was an RHS Chelsea Flower Show prize winner.
