Incommunities has a dedicated employment service called ‘open field’, who play a key role in delivering the Future Jobs Fund across the organisation.
Incommunities is passionate and committed about supporting the local economy and tackling worklessness and set up Open Field in 2008 in order to offer intensive, practical job search support. Open Field is part of Incommunities’ ‘Open Moves’ package of customer focused support and advice services.
Open Field works in partnership with a host of local organisations in the delivery of a holistic and customer focused package of employability support. The Future Jobs Fund has provided us with the ideal opportunity to promote local opportunities to local people.
“It’s not easy to find and sustain employment in the current market and the longer a person is absent from the labour market, the more challenging it can be. Given the length of their unemployment, some of our FJF employees may not possess the expected employability skills in applying for work and it is important they are encouraged, challenged and motivated to sustain their jobs for the duration of 6 months.
Open Field has developed a comprehensive ‘in work’ mentoring package which has offered all FJF employees an opportunity to participate in weekly employability sessions for 6 months. These started in January 2010. Each person has an opportunity to:
- receive confidential and impartial support and information, advice and guidance
- review their progress
- meet their peers and learn form each other
- develop personally through mentoring and coaching
- develop their professional capacity
