If you are a housing association tenant or a council house tenant wanting to move home, you may be able to swap your home through the home swap service.
A home swap can be a really good way to find a housing association or council property. You can make sure it is suitable for your needs and in an area that you really want to live in.
Want to do a home swap?
If you want to do a home swap simply visit the homes website by clicking here then click on the home swaps icon and follow the instructions. You can also contact your local housing office.
If you find a home that you like, it is then up to you to contact the tenant(s) at the address and see if a swap might be possible. You will then need to arrange to look at each others properties.
If you agree that you wish to swap properties, you must both get your landlords permission as they need to make sure that the homes are suitable for your needs and that your rent accounts are clear.
Important information for existing Open Moves - homes customers:
- you must not arrange to move out of your home until your landlord has agreed on the home swap
- the Open Moves – homes system gives you an opportunity to show off your home to other people who maybe interested in a home swap
